Folk Box: Kalmyks – the only Mongol-language people in Europe

Each week Olga Shapovalova offers to folk music lovers a multicoloured display of customs and traditions, legends and tales, melodies and rythms of Russia.

Our today’s program is devoted to the Kalmyks, not a large-numbered people, just around 170 thousand. However, the Kalmyks is a unique people – the only Mongol-language people in Europe. Understandably, from there stem all manner of ethnic-cultural consequences.
