Red Line: Turkey, Cuban Missile Crisis, and U.S. elections

Each week, Voice of Russia hosts Red Line, a discussion about global events as seen from Moscow.

Today we’re focusing on the role of political decision makers in war and peace issues. We shall start with the airplane incident that sparked off an emotional – if not desperate - reaction from Turkey. We shall then move 50 years back to Caribbean crisis – a vivid illustration of how easily the world can be destroyed by will of a handful of people – and how quickly those people seem to forget about it, and finally we shall hop back into today to take a closer look at those who might be propelled to a position in which they are capable of destroying our world, if they fail to remember the history of their country and the rest of the world.
