As you could already know, Vladislav Stariewich was the first Russian animator (and possibly the first in the world).
His first animated movie was made in 1912 with the help of insects (because in fact he had two desires: animation and enthomology). A fairy tale The Beautiful Leukanida earned international acclaim, one British reviewer even was tricked into thinking that alive trained insects were playing in the film. Then among other amazing puppet animation he created a film Insects' Christmas, which we would like to present you. It was shown for the first time exactly 100 years ago, in 1913 And this fact makes it even more special today - on the eve of the Orthodox Christmas 2013.
