Yugorsk, the town of snow, indigenous people and gas pumping

Yugorsk is a town in Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia. It is home to 35 000 people and the largest gas pumping station in the world. Yugorsk became one of the most prosperous, dynamically developing towns in the Russian North.

Born as a settlement and gas timber in 1962, and was called Komsomolsky. In 1992 it was renamed to its current name. This was the territory of Khanty and Mansi indigenous people, who now live in remote villages. 

The fauna of the taiga around Yugorsk is extraordinary rich and diverse, thus hunting is very popular here. Local hunting dog kennel is considered to be one of the best in Russia.
