Moscow-based Weloveyouwinona belongs to that rare breed of Russian groups that make Western-style rock music. And not only the content, but the quality of recording and performance.
Weloveyouwinona was founded in 2010 by Ivan Malezhik. He named the band after a scene from the movie "Girl, Interrupted," starring Winona Ryder. Ivan is the leader and soloist of the group, and writes all the songs. The other members are bassist Ilya Granny Smith and drummer Gleb Shaprynsky, formerly of the group Holy Monday, as well as guitarist Semen Stupin and keyboardist Dmitri Ignatiev.
In 2010, the band recorded an EP entitled “Areyousure?”, and the following year they released their second EP “4 Songs”. In April 2012, the band released its first studio album “Get happy”, the recorded at London’s legendary Strongroom studio. The sound producer was Duncan Mills, known for his work with Florence and the Machine and other popular artists.
In the space of two years, they have become one of the most prominent groups in Moscow. With their blend of modern English music, Weloveyouwinona is sophisticated, virtuosic, and very "British," a rarity for Russian musicians. The guys play at Moscow’s top venues: 16 tons, B2, China Town, Bilingual, Dolls Pistols.
LYRICS:
It's the time of a sadness' season
It's the time to break all the walls
And I know you don't believe us
But you have confused at all
You
You make me happy
You make me shine
I said you
You make me happy
You bring some ...
It's the time of a sadness season
It's an awful shiny wednesday
But we just find some reasons
to smile all the way
You
You make me happy
You make me shine
I said you
You make me happy
You bring some ...
