Moscow lost in time and fancies

Alexander Starodubov was fond of painting since childhood, showing exceptional ability and easily winning prizes in contests and competitions in the fine arts. He did not think that his hobby would become his profession.
He was born in 1959 in Moscow, and career of the military has been predetermined for him since childhood. First, he graduated Moscow Aviation Institute (1977), followed by service as an officer in the Soviet Army.
Despite his initial success in the Army, Alexander abruptly changes his destiny. He retires in 1990 and chooses the path of the artist.
Favorite genre of this artist - the urban landscape of the Old Moscow, sometimes with elements of fantasy.
Works of Starodubov are in private collections in Russia and abroad. Some of paintings were acquired by Bulgakov Museum in Toronto, Canada.
Looking at his paintings of Old Moscow, viewers could only guess, what time and what place are depicted there. Though architectural objects, churches, houses and streets look familiar, one often cannot understand where does this particular place belong to.

Paintings of Alexander Starodubov are very popular among Russian wealthy persons. They buy his works for about 3,500 USD a piece.
His works were exhibited in numerous galleries and many paintings have found their way into various collections both in Russia and abroad.
