Chukotka, or the Chukchi Peninsula, is in Russia's remote northeastern corner. For many members of this ethnicity, the way of living has remained the same for centuries: without electricity, heating, or other modern amenities. These days - just as before - deer are a prized possession. They provide food, clothing, and shelter. There are few alternatives to hunting in order to survive the long, cold winter.
