Muscovites go skiing in the city center

A snowy winter may mean slush and traffic chaos for some, but for skiing fans it means good fun. 

For those Muscovites who want to learn what cross-country skiing is, there is no need to go to a ski resort. Scores of people heading to the woods around Moscow or to the capital’s parks, where trails are laid out and gear can be rented on the spot. In many of the city’s schools, skiing is even part of the curriculum.

Ski gear is considered to be the most affordable outdoor sports equipment available. The quick learning curve and low injury rate make skiing a sport that people of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy.
