The First International Black Sea Yacht Festival (26 June – 7 July) brought together yachtsmen from Russia and Ukraine. The event is intended to be annual, with more countries participating.

After the great opening of the festival in Sevastopol more than a dozen yachts realized the 12-days journey with stops in Ukrainian Balaklava, Yalta, Feodosiya, Russian Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, and finishing in Sochi.

The aim of the festival is to popularize yacht tourism and attract authorities’ attention to the yachting problems. One of the festival’s targets is to help struggling through the formalities of crossing the Ukrainian–Russian border by yachts. Recently a law that allows yachts under flags of foreign countries to enter Russian territorial waters has come into effect.
