Ultimate frisbee: from neighborhood sport to national cup

The Russian Ultimate Frisbee Championship took place in mid-September in the Moscow region city of Bronnitsy. In recent years, this sport has gained popularity: more and more amateur athletes are willing to spend a day on the field despite the terrible weather.

This is the largest open-air ultimate frisbee championship in Russia that gathers all teams.  The tournament hosted around 400 athletes. There were qualifying games in different regions. The teams came mostly from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, a regional team from the Urals, and Krasnodar. Some teams also came from the neighboring countries of Ukraine and Belarus.
