Hot enamel flowers in a jeweler's workshop

The jeweler Ilgiz Gazulzyanov is better known abroad than he is in Russia. For instance, he twice won the International Jewellery Design Excellence Award. His works are sold around the world, including at Christie’s Auction. RBTH’s video correspondent spent some time in the jeweler’s workshop and found out his secrets.

Initially, Ilgis tried to find himself as a painter, but at the beginning of the 1990s, almost by accident, he became a jeweler. He tried to learn the Volga Bulgars' ancient jewellery techniques. However, since then, gold has become his canvas and enamel and gems his paints. Ilgiz’s business card is the technique of hot enamel.
