A day with a Sochi Olympics volunteer: Shalva, Karate Doctor

In this video, you'll meet Shalva Tsurtsumiya, a cardiovascular surgeon, master of Eastern martial arts, and sports volunteer for the Sochi Olympics.

The preparation and holding of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games involve 25,000 volunteers. Among them are doctors, teachers, businesspeople, men and women, youngsters and pensioners... All united by a love of sport.

Unlike in most previous host countries, the volunteer movement in Russia is still taking shape. Volunteers in Sochi make up no more than 9% of the workforce. In Europe and America, the figure is more like 33-35%.
