Stars of Russian ballet shine on London stage

The Russian Ballet Icons Gala, held on Sunday 9 March at the London Coliseum, brought some of the most talented dancers in the world under the spotlight for a triumphant celebration of Russian ballet

A tribute to the Russian legends of the past from Maya Plisetskaya to Rudolf Nureyev, the event saw performances by English Royal Ballet alumni Vadim Muntagirov and Sergey Polunin, Maria Alexandrova of the Bolshoi Ballet and Alina Somova, prima ballerina at the Mariinsky Theatre.

"This was the ninth annual gala in London. This year's show is one of our most complex projects, because it brought together the top ballet stars from around the world. Not only from the Bolshoy, the Mariinsky and the Stanislavsky theatres, but also from some foreign major ballet companies. We had a beautifully combined programme as a result", the organiser, Olga Balakleets said.
