My life in Russia: Mike Weber from Walkerton, Canada

"My life in Russia" is a video blog about expats living in Russia. In this blog, we present Russia from their points of view - how they adjust to local habits, how they adapt their everyday life, how they make friends. Meet Mike Weber, a Canadian from Walkerton, Ontario, now living in Moscow.

Mike has been living in Moscow for 2,5 years working as a TV journalist. Since he was a little kid Mike has been involved with sports media, at the age of 9 he became the world youngest ice hockey announcer. For last 5 years Mike Weber has been living abroad working as a reporter. When he was offered a job in Russia he thought of it as an opportunity to explore Russia and Eastern Europe. “I always had a fascination with Russia as I was being a hockey fan”.

Working as a journalist in Russia Mike finds time to practice his favorite sports as well as explore new outdoor activities,

“About 2 years ago I did the Kreshenie (Epiphany) celebration. We plunged three times into the icy waters. It’s safe to say it was the coldest experience I’ve ever had in my life”.
