Defenders of Friendship: Russian Airborne Troops in Egypt

The servicemen are learning to jointly eliminate terror groups in desert conditions.

The first joint Russia-Egypt anti-terrorism military excercise Defenders of Friendship is taking place near the Egyptian city of Alexandria.

The excercise involves 15 helicopters and planes, 10 items of air-droppable military hardware. Over 500 Russian and Egyptian servicemen are taking part in it.

The servicemen are learning to jointly eliminate unlawful armed formations in desert conditions.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, a new uniform for hot climate had been developed for servicemen who were participating in military drills with the Egyptian army.

The drills will last until October 26.
