Two Russian Emergency Situations Ministry aircraft delivered 77 Russian citizens and their family members, including 27 children, permanently living in Syria and wishing to be evacuated from Beirut on Wednesday morning, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
"The Russian embassies in Syria and Lebanon, working in close contact with the Syrian and Lebanese authorities, ensured the necessary security measures for our fellow-countrymen going home," the ministry said in a statement available on its website.
"In case of necessity, the Russian Foreign Ministry, working together with the Emergency Situations Ministry, will continue to provide practical assistance in returning Russian citizens from the Syrian Arab Republic," it said.
