Russia is working on new weapons program - Rogozin

Russia is beginning to work on a new armaments program for the period until 2025.

"In the morning, I am holding a meeting of the governmental military-industrial commission. We are beginning to work on a new state armaments program for the 2016-2025 period," Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

The state armaments program for the period until 2020 envisions the provision of over 20 trillion rubles and 3 trillion rubles for the modernization of the defense sector.

"In the morning, I am holding a meeting of governmental military-industrial commission. We are beginning to work on a new state armaments program for the 2016-2025 period," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Twitter on Wednesday.

After the meeting, Rogozin said on Twitter the meeting had addressed the plan for the formation of the draft state armaments program for 2016-2025, according to which the state armaments program rules outlining the procedures for creating prospective weapons samples and military and special equipment will be introduced.

"The rules envisage a prediction of the threats to Russia's national security fro the next thirty years and military-technical and technical-economic given information for the next ten-year period," Rogozin said.
