The number of Russian children living at orphanages and shelters will halve by 2018, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at an expanded government meeting in the Kremlin on Thursday.
"The population of Russian orphanages and children's homes will halve by 2018," he said.
The meeting is discussing key areas of the government activity before 2018.
"Additional measures will be taken in state support to citizens who choose to adopt or take custody of a child and the adoption and custody procedures will be relaxed," the premier promised.
