The health of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is improving, Venezuelan Ambassador to Russia Ugo Ernandes said.
"Hugo Chavez is recovering, thank God. We are hoping that he will return to Venezuela sooner or later," Ernandes told reporters on Friday.
"Venezuela can't afford to lose all of the achievements it reached in the past 14 years [during Chavez's rule] and is hoping Hugo Chavez will soon return to the country," the ambassador said.
Chavez is undergoing a course of rehabilitation after his fourth surgery in Cuba. His last surgery took place in December 2012 and he has not appeared in public for more than a month. The surgery was followed by complications, specifically, a lung infection.
In the meantime, opposition activists said they doubt that the president's health is improving, saying Chavez, who is known for his public speeches, has not issued any addresses to the nation recently.
