Some 600 residential buildings damaged by falling meteorite glazed in Urals Saturday

Glazing has been restored in 1,758 buildings damaged by a falling meteorite in the Urals last Friday, the press service of the regional center of the Emergency Situations' Ministry reported on Sunday.

"As at 6 a.m. on February 17 glazing operations had been conducted in 1,658 residential buildings, 34 medical institutions, 62 educational institutions and four social security facilities. The total size of restored window frames and glass is 37,800 sq. m," the report says.

All 122 potentially hazardous facilities were examined. The technical state of three facilities was examined with a Strela-P complex.

The efforts to mitigate the consequences of the calamity, to examine and evaluate the condition of economic, transport and life-support facilities and residential buildings in the Urals Federal District involved 24,000 people and 4,300 pieces of equipment, out of which the Emergency Situations' Ministry provided some 19,000 people and 3,500 units of equipment.

Firefighting and rescue formations from Tyumen, Kurgan, Sverdlovsk regions are involved.
