Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al Arabi believes the work by the international Quarter has become pointless.
"This Quartet [which comprises Russia, the U.S., the EU, and the UN] is pointless. It does not do anything because it has no powers," Nabil Al Arabi said in an interview with Russia Today television.
"If it changed its framework and instructions approved by the UN Security Council for the Quartet and determined a monthly period for reports on events, it would maybe be acceptable. However, the Quartet has no significance in its current form," Nabil Al Arabi said.
"The UN Security Council needs to adjust its work or create a new mechanism, strengthen it, and give it more powers to ensure its continuous operation," Nabil Al Arabi said.
