Over 100 citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan permanently residing in Syria came to Russia on board an Emergency Situations Ministry aircraft on Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.
"An Emergency Situations Ministry plane delivered another shipment of humanitarian cargo for the Syrian population, including food products, to the city of Latakia on March 12. The return flight the same evening brought 64 Russian citizens and their family members, and also citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan wishing to leave Syria for security reasons (a total of 103 people) back to Moscow," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement available on its official website.
Officials from the consulate department of the Russian Embassy in Damascus traveled to Latakia to provide the necessary assistance in arranging the flight, it said.
