The publication of a list of U.S. citizens denied entry to Russia in response to the U.S. Magnitsky list fully complies with international diplomatic practice, while the approaches toward compiling these lists were different, a high-ranking United Russia party member said.
"In line with the existing international diplomatic rules, Russia had to give a response to the Magnitsky list," Sergei Zheleznyak, a deputy secretary of United Russia's General Council and a deputy chairman of the State Duma, told Interfax on Saturday.
"Unlike the unlawful approach used by the Americans in compiling this list of people whose guilt has not been proven by court, the Russian list includes American citizens who were undeniably involved in torture and killings of people, and this has been confirmed," Zheleznyak said.
