Release of Magnitsky List a blow on Russian-American relations - Kremlin spokesman

The release of the Magnitsky List in the United States is a blow on Russian-American relations and an instance of direct interference in Russia's internal affairs, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"It is a blow on Russian-American relations. At a time when the international situation and the abundance of current regional conflicts and potentially new ones prompt the necessity of rapprochement between Russia and America as the two countries bearing responsibility for global stability and security, steps are being made that cast a shadow on bilateral relations and even damage them," Peskov said in the "Sunday Night with Vladimir Solovyov" TV program.

These moves are, "in our opinion, an instance of direct interference in Russia's internal affairs," Peskov said.

"The so-called 'Magnitsky case' must not in any way be discussed anywhere beyond Russia," Peskov said. "This is unacceptable for us and we will never agree with this," he said.

A fragment of the program with Peskov participating, shown in Russia's Far East, was aired in a news broadcast on Rossiya 1 television on Sunday.
