A police officer and his brother suspected of collaboration with militants have been detained in Makhachkala, Interfax was told at the press service of the Interior Ministry for Dagestan on Sunday.
A ministry spokesman said that the detention was conducted by officers from the ministry's the Center for Resisting Extremism and operatives from the ministry task force in the republic.
Operatives believe that the policeman and his brother had supplied militants killed in a special effort in Makhachkala in 2010 with arms and clothes.
During a search at the policeman's house a 5.6-mm Sobol gun, a 7.62-mm SKS carbine, a 7.62-mm Saiga MK hunting rifle, a 12-mm Maverick pump-action shotgun and a 9-mm Stel gas pistol were confiscated.
The name and rank of the police officer have not been disclosed yet.
