Police patrol attacked in the city of Nalchik, one assailant killed

A police patrol has been attacked in Nalchik (the capital city of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic in the foothills of the Caucasus mountains), the city police told Interfax.

"Automatic gunfire was opened at a police patrol at around midnight. One of the assailants was killed in the shootout," the police said.

An officer was injured.

The dead assailant is being identified, and the search for his accomplices is underway, the police said.
