An Ilyushin Il-78 aircarft of the Emergency Situations Ministry will airlift the legendary weapon designer Mikhail Kalashnikov from Izhevsk to Moscow for a medical examination, Emergency Situations Ministry spokeswoman Irina Rossius told Interfax on Sunday.

"On doctors' recommendation, Mikhail Kalashnikov will undergo a medical checkup at a Moscow clinic," she said.
The plane has a medical module . During the flight Kalashnikov will be observed by the best doctors of the ministry's rescue center Tsentrospas and of the national emergency medical aid center Zashchita.
Sources in the Izhevsk airport told Interfax that the plane will land in Izhevsk at 3:45 p.m. and fly back to Moscow at 4:30 p.m..
Kalashnikov, 93, was hospitalized on May 17 on his doctors' recommendation for a health screening procedure and for an adjustment in his therapy plan. He was discharged from hospital on May 30.
