Strategic bomber base in Amur region alerted as part of surprise inspection

Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers are preparing to take off from an air base in Amur region in the framework of a surprise inspection of the combat readiness of troops of the Eastern Military District, the Defense Ministry press service reported on Sunday.

"At instructions from the president of the Russian Federation Ukrainian air base #6952 [in Serishevo district of Amur region] has been brought to full combat readiness as of 5 p.m. Moscow time on July 13. Tu-95MS strategic bombers are preparing for flying combat missions," the report says.

Attack aircraft and bombers are supplied with ammunition loads and combat duty organized. All air defense formations of the third command of the Air Force and Air Defense are in combat duty. The degrees of combat readiness for fighter crews have been increased and a special timetable of the operation of radars introduced.

To expand the radar field the crews of 25 radars have been alerted to advance to specified positions.
