The Energia Corporation is designing an orbital base, which will give maintenance to and fuel spaceships on deep space missions, International Space Station (ISS) Russian program supervisor Vladimir Solovyov said.

"Along with carrying out research and development projects, the base will service and test spaceships on long-distance missions, both automatic and manned; they will be tested, adjusted, refueled and sent to the Moon, Mars or other destinations," Solovyov told a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

Energia has launched the orbital base project.

"We are already working on this. Our projects are no longer limited to the ISS," Solovyov stressed.
