Next opposition rally could take place prior to Moscow mayoral elections

The Russian opposition could hold their next large-scale rally in Moscow prior to the Moscow mayoral elections, activist of the Solidarity opposition movement Sergei Davidis told Interfax on Monday.

"If no extraordinary events happen in the framework of the mayoral election campaign, some rallies could be expected before election day. At least, one big rally," Davidis said.

No certain decisions on holding an opposition rally have been made so far, Davidis said.

"This will probably be August or early September," he said.

The Moscow mayoral elections will take place on September 8.

"No rallies have been scheduled yet. If there are no considerable changes on considerable political cases, if no sudden arrests happen, then it could be expected that the topic of the nearest public rally to be held before the elections will be namely the election campaign," Davidis said.
