Moscow confirms that some U.S. citizens from the so-called Guantanamo List have been barred from entering Russia.

"As concerns the U.S. people on the Guantanamo List, yes. There have been several cases of American citizens denied visas, as these individuals - I won't name those whom I mean - are on our list," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax.

Russia introduced the Guantanamo List as a step in response to the adoption of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012. The Guantanamo List includes individuals Moscow believes are responsible for violating human rights and freedoms, including rights and freedoms of Russian citizens abroad.
