State Duma deputy Alexei Zhuravlyov of the United Russia party faction has submitted a bill stipulating that a parent's nontraditional sexual orientation be considered grounds for depriving this parent of parental rights.
"This bill proposes that a new paragraph be added to Russian Family Code Article 69 to stipulate that the nontraditional sexual orientation of parents or of one of them may be considered grounds for depriving them of parental rights," an explanatory note to the bill says.
The document says that the number of people with nontraditional sexual orientation in Russia is estimated at 5-7 percent, and about one third of them have children.
The Federation Council has approved a law banning the adoption of Russian children by same-sex couples and unmarried foreigners from countries where such marriages are legal. Read more>>>
