Former Makhachkala mayor Amirov suspected of plotting terror attack

A new criminal case has been opened against the former mayor of Makhachkala, Sayid Amirov. Amirov is suspected of involvement in plotting a terrorist attack with former aide to the Khasavyurt prosecutor, Magamed Abdulgalimov, and Vice Mayor of Kaspiisk Yusup Dzhaparov, said Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin.

A new criminal case has been opened against the former mayor of Makhachkala, Sayid Amirov.

Amirov is suspected of involvement in plotting a terrorist attack with former aide to the Khasavyurt prosecutor, Magamed Abdulgalimov, and Vice Mayor of Kaspiisk Yusup Dzhaparov, said Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin.

"A criminal case has been opened against Amirov, Abdulgalimov and Dzhaparov on counts of plotting a terrorist attack and illegally possessing weapons (articles 30, 205 and 22 of the Russian Criminal Code)," Markin told Interfax on Tuesday.

Said Amirov, the former mayor of Makhachkala was detained in a massive security swoop on his home and taken by military helicopter to Moscow, where a court sanctioned his arrest over the 2011 killing of Investigative Committee official Arsen Gadjibekov in the Dagestani town of Kaspiisk.
