Oliver Stone not to attend Petersburg film festival

For unknown reasons, Oliver Stone will not be taking part in the St. Petersburg Film Festival

The American director, invited as a special guest, was scheduled to present four of his projects at the festival. According to organizers, people who have purchased tickets will be able to return them for a refund.

American film director Oliver Stone, who was scheduled to take part as a special guest in the St. Petersburg International Film Festival (SPIFF-2013) being held on Sept. 13-22, will not come to St. Petersburg, announced one of the organizers involved in setting up meetings between Stone and spectators.

“Oliver Stone will not be able to come to St. Petersburg, for reasons beyond our control. All purchased tickets can be returned for a refund,” an agency spokesperson informed.

According to organizers of the film forum, the reasons for the director’s inability to attend the event in St. Petersburg remain unknown.

Earlier, it was reported that the three-time Oscar winner would personally present four of his works at SPIFF-2013: the documentary series “Untold History of the United States,” and the movies “Alexander,” “JFK” and “Savages.”
