Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Special Representative on Syria Lahdar Brahimi during the ministerial week of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

"Sergei Lavrov has spoken in favor of intensifying the special representative's activities in preparation for the international conference on Syria, which should mark the beginning of direct dialogue in Syria," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report.
