The criminal charges filed as part of an inquiry into the acid attack on the Bolshoi Theater's artistic director Sergei Filin have been forwarded to the court, a spokesman for the Russian Prosecutor General's Office told Interfax on Thursday.
The prosecutor of Moscow's Central Administrative District earlier endorsed the indictment against Bolshoi Ballet soloist Pavel Dmitrichenko, 29, Ryazan region resident Yury Zarutsky, 35, and Moscow region resident Andrei Lipatov, the spokesman said.
The three face charges of conspiring to intentionally cause grievous bodily harm to a person in retaliation for his work.
Investigators believe that the attack on Filin was masterminded by Dmitrichenko, "who criticized his running of the Ballet Company and his decisions to assign dancers to roles and distribute monetary awards among them," the spokesman said.
"He devised the criminal plan together with his acquaintances Zarutsky and Lipatov," he said.
An attacker threw acid into Filin's face in Moscow in the early hours of January 17. Filin suffered severe burns to his eyes and face. He has undergone 23 rounds of eye surgery and tissue transplants. He returned to Moscow in early September and is currently on sick leave.
