Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry will dispatch a plane to Syria to evacuate Russian citizens and citizens of countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
An Ilyushin Il-62 will fly out to Latakia on October 8, Emergency Situations Ministry spokesperson Irina Rossius told Interfax, "The plane's departure is set for the morning of October 8," she said,.
The plane will be able to evacuate 100 citizens of Russia and CIS countries. "Most of them are women and children," Rossius said.
A Russian government aircraft evacuated 89 nationals of the Commonwealth of Independent States, including 75 Russians, from Syria. The majority of the Russian evacuees are women and children. Read more>>>
