Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked everyone who congratulated him on his birthday.

The Russian president celebrated his 61st birthday at work - at the APEC summit in Indonesia.

"Putin expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone, who congratulated him on his birthday. He is grateful to thousands and thousands of Russian citizens, who have sent their congratulatory telegrams and letters, sent their emails or voiced them through the mass media," the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

Putin also thanks presidents and prime ministers of foreign countries, who have sent congratulatory telegrams to him and congratulated him in person - in a telephone conversation and at the APEC summit, Peskov said.
