Snowden's father arrives in Moscow - TV

Lon Snowden, the father of U.S. special services whistle-blower Edward Snowden, arrived in Moscow on Thursday morning, the Rossiya 24 TV channel reported.

Snowden Sr. gave a briefing at an airport in which Snowden Jr. lawyer Anatoly Kucherena also took part.

U.S. special services whistle-blower Snowden fled to Hong Kong in May 2013 and then released information about the secret Internet surveillance operations of the U.S. special services.

Snowden was in the transit area of Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport between June 23 and August 1. Snowden had a transit flight through Moscow but could not leave the Moscow airport because the U.S. authorities revoked his passport.

On August 1, Snowden received a document granting him temporary asylum in Russia for one year and left the airport on the same day.

Snowden's relatives to visit Russia soon

Former CIA employee Edward Snowden's father, mother, grandmother and grandfather are likely to visit Russia soon to meet with him, and an invitation for such a visit has already been sent to them, lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said on RT television. Read more>>>
