Moscow offers free visits to its museums and art shows

On Nov. 4, the Russian Ministry of Culture will launch a "Museum Card" project, which will allow for free visits to 25 exhibitions at seven museums throughout the city.

There are 80,000 museum cards planned for print, and the cards will be effective through December 8, 2013. The museums available for free visiting include the Manezh, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Tretyakov Gallery.

Cards will be issued during the "Night of Arts" event in Moscow, which will take place on November 3, 2013: One hundred and fifty cultural institutions will operate free of charge on this date; the sale of cards will come to an end at midnight. "Night of Arts" is subsequently planned to be organized annually—not only in Moscow, but throughout Russia.

As noted by Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, “The promotion was conceived as a extension of the ‘Night in the Museum’ event, and its format has expanded this year, as many libraries and theatres joined it.”
