Putin signs into law bill on compensation of terrorism-related damage by families of terrorists

President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill stipulating for the compensation of damage caused by terrorist actions by the families of terrorists.

The law was posted on the official portal of legal information on Sunday.

"Damage, including moral damage caused by a terrorist act shall be compensated in a procedure established by the legislation of the Russian Federation on civil justice at the expense of the means of the person committing the terrorist act and also at the expense of the means of his [her] family, relatives and close people given sufficient reasons to believe that they received the money, valuables and other property as a result of terrorist activities and/or that they constitute income from such property," the law says.

The bill was passed by the State Duma on October 25 and approved by the Federation Council on October 30.
