Mikhail Prokhorov, business tycoon and leader of the Civil Platform, has urged supporters not to take part in the Russian March and promised to change the situation with migrant workers in Moscow without the help of radical nationalists.
"I am urging my supporters not to give in to provocations and not to join the march at the call of those who invite Muscovites to come but stay away from it for PR reasons," he wrote in Facebook on Monday.
He said the Civil Platform party has a clear recipe of changing the migration policy. "We will change the situation with migrants without the assistance of radical nationalists," he said.
Prokhorov said he thought long whether he should express his opinion about the Russian March but then decided that he has no right to remain aside from growing nationalist sentiments because those who voted for him in the presidential elections are dissatisfied with the migration policy and corruption in the sphere.
"Participation in the nationalist march is unacceptable! If you are considering whether to go there or not, don't go!" he stressed.
Prokhorov added that his party will make its migration doctrine known to the public this year.
