Missile systems of the Russian Strategic Missile Troops should be able to penetrate any missile defense system, President Vladimir Putin has said.
"They must be not only powerful but modern from the viewpoint of penetrating any missile defense system both today and in the future," he said at a Wednesday conference on advancing the Strategic Missile Troops.
Putin said that the technical capabilities of the systems should be advanced so that they would be sustainable to missile defenses of any generation.
At the conference Putin is to hear the proposals of the Commander of the Strategic Missile Troops Col. Gen. Sergei Karakayev as well as civilian and military experts with the purpose of analyzing the present state and prospects of strategic nuclear forces.
By way of preparing for the upcoming expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry board due in December Putin is expected to hold a series of working conferences on defense issues in the next few days.
