Countries need to be very cautious when using military force in the Mediterranean region because it may lead to global instability, Russian Deputy defense Minister Anatoly Antonov told reporters on Friday.

"Any careless action in this region may sharply exacerbate the situation, causing regional and global instability," Antonov said responding to a question of the launch of ballistic missile sin the Mediterranean in September.

Antonov reiterated that it is especially important for Russia that the early wan ring system worked and located the missiles instantly.

Antonov also said every country has a right to create its own defense in a way it sees fit. "However, every country should act very responsibly, especially bearing in mind the volatile situation in the Mediterranean," he said.

Antonov also said he does not see any need for conducting trainings in the region, where very many civilian vessels are present.
