A number of productions at the Bolshoi Theatre will soon be removed from its repertoire due to their poor-quality, Bolshoi's General Director Vladimir Urin said on Wednesday.
"There are productions which have been running for ten to twelve years and have lost the level of performance and quality at which they are supposed to stay. There will be a major repertoire review. Better without some productions at all than having them the way they are. I have already decided to remove a great number of productions as I see no possibility to renew them - they are dead," Urin told reporters on Wednesday.
The list of the removed productions will be announced at the end of the season, the Bolshoi general director said. "I will call out these productions during my announcement of plans for the next season. For now I can call out only one: the opera 'Nabucco'," Urin said.
