Russian athletes won two medals at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi on Wednesday.
Figure skaters Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov brought Russia its second gold medal at the Games. The silver went to another Russian pair of Ksenia Stolbova and Fyodor Klimov.
Russia is now in seventh place at the Sochi Olympics medal standings with two gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
Germany currently tops the standings with six gold medals, as well as one silver and one bronze. Canada is in second place (4,2,2,) and Norway is in third place (4,3,5).
Six sets of medals were handed out at the Sochi Olympics on Wednesday.
Winning silver in Nagano back in 1998 was the Russian team’s highest achievement since the collapse of the USSR. While the new coach is talking up defense and teamplay, experts are in no hurry to promise the country’s victory-starved fans the Olympic win they so desperately cherish. Read more>>>
