Team Russia dominated the Olympic 5000m short track speed skating relay semi-final on Feb. 13. Viktor Ahn, Semyon Elistratov, Vladimir Grigoryev and Ruslan Zakharov left their rivals behind, finishing the race first. The Chinese team came in second.
Two teams Russia expected to face in the finals – Canada and Korea – failed to continue to the next stage after suffering crashes during the race.
The short track speed skating relay final will occur on Feb. 21. The Russian skaters will face off against teams from the United States, China, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.
On Feb. 12, Sochi's Iceberg Arena resounded with the triumphant cheers of local fans as Russian ice skaters won both the gold and the silver medals in the pairs event. Read more>>>
