Ten people have been killed as a logging truck and a van collided head-on in the Vyborg district of the Leningrad region, the regional traffic police department told Interfax.
"Ten people traveling in the van have been killed," a police spokesperson said.
It was reported earlier that the crash had occurred on the 16th kilometer of the Vyborg-Brusnichnoye road at about 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. A Volkswagen van moving toward the Finnish border swerved into the oncoming lane and collided with a logging truck.
As the road has been partially blocked, police have asked other drivers moving toward the border to choose an alternative route passing through Torfyanovka.
