Presidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko has proposed ways of resolving the situation in the eastern Ukrainian regions, in particular, the possibilities for vacating the regional office building of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) in Luhansk.
"The Ukrainians who live in Luhansk and are inside the SBU building today have every opportunity to hold talks and find a solution to problems that is acceptable not only to the blockaders but would also be a reliable compromise for the Ukrainians living in the east and south of Ukraine," Tymoshenko said at a briefing in Luhansk, according to a statement on her website on Thursday.
Tymoshenko sent a draft protocol of understanding to the people inside the building, in which she says that the parties are ready to take whatever steps are necessary to de-escalate social tensions, settle the existing conflicts, preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and restore peace, law and order, the statement said.
"And if the talks are successful, we suggest that our Verkhovna Rada pass the amnesty law. We suggest amnesty for the people who were compelled to block buildings, who have no blood on their hands," Tymoshenko said.
On April 22 the presidential candidate sent a similar document for signature to a group of Ukrainians who were blocking the building of the Donetsk regional state administration.
