Supporters of federalization of Ukraine announce creation of Luhansk People's Republic

The people who have taken over the building of the Ukrainian Security Service's department in the Luhansk region have announced the creation of the Luhansk People's Republic, Segodnya.UA has reported.

The people who have taken over the building of the Ukrainian Security Service's department in the Luhansk region have announced the creation of the Luhansk People's Republic, Segodnya.UA has reported.

The act proclaiming state independence and a declaration of the sovereignty of the Luhansk People's Republic was read by unknown women. They did not give their names and told the meeting participants they are coordinators of the people's council of the Luhansk region.

A local referendum, which federalization supporters want to conduct, was also announced at the meeting.

The Luhansk region's "people's governor" Valery Bolotov did not take part in the meeting.

According to earlier reports, the building of the Ukrainian Security Service in Luhansk was taken over by protesters on April 6.
